This was right before I went into the airport! It was 4:30 in the morning. This day was possibly the longest day of my entire life. We left Salt Lake City at 6:50 and flew to Denver then had a two hour layover. The Denver airport was pretty cool. We had a lot of time to explore it. In the middle of the airport they had this garden that had real birds flying around. It was strange, but cool I guess. From Denver we flew to Detroit. Out of 25+ kids in our group only about two people got to sit by one another. So of course I ended up by a 40 year old man and his 5 year old son. He ended up being an architect from Denver. I told him I was a design student and we talked for awhile. He told me about some really cool things that he has designed, and he also gave me some good tips on the future! ha ha he was nice to sit by. After that flight we had another layover in Detroit and then had an eight hour flight to Rome. It was miserable. It's pretty impossible sleeping sitting striaght up. I caught up on my movie watching though. Love 'Seventeen Again'. After arriving in Rome we headed to our hotel. It was on the outskirts of Rome and was very nice! We cleaned up in the hotel a little and then headed straight to the Colosseum.
